An actuary is a professional capable of formulating and applying mathematical models that explain and predict diverse phenomena in order to obtain information necessary for decision making in the solving of social, financial, economic issues –among others– that involve risk.

The graduate actuary is trained to get involved in a wide variety of fields, such as the demographic, the ecological and the administrative, to name a few. Their field of work can be found both in the public and the private sector (insurance companies, actuarial and statistic consulting agencies, technology and information agencies, and finance consulting agencies, for example.)
